Faraway shorelines, foaming white seas
Cool clear lakes, unspoiled beauty
Evergreen scents, they float on the breeze
Yesterday’s mistakes are tomorrow’s worries
Acres of farmland roll to the mountains
Another Saturday night of TV
To live is Christ, to die is gain
Feelings of joy, fantasized ecstasy
All things work for good for those who love the Lord
A quick thought of hate, of sudden jealousy
A flash of pain, a burst of curse words
Pray for your persecutors, love your enemy
Not able to sleep, unable to eat
Beneath a summer sky speaks a guitar
Strange moods of depression, I suffered defeat
Impressing my friends, a rock ‘n roll star
On a mountainside, a flock and their shepherd
Who would God want for my wife
On the back porch two big-billed birds
Jesus came to give abundant life
To try to be a person I’m not
The pressures of the job, other people’s bitterness
Broken is my spirit and the pride I’ve got
The light of the world and the salt of the earth
